Excursions - Sorrento
The legend states that its waters were inhabited by the sirens which attempted to seduce Ulysses with their song. To this very day, admiring the shimmering blue green sea lapping the shores of Sorrento - one can just imagine those exotic and perilously persuasive mythical creatures emerging from the waves. Perhaps it is Sorrento itself which, siren like, entices and enchants the visitor with its rocks born from past volcanic eruptions, its gloriously pungent perfume of citrus fruits, the ancient trees of her magnificent olive groves with their characteristic dark twisted trunks and silvery leaves rustling in the gentle sea breeze.
