Back  Excursions - Pompei Back

The ruins of Pompei, the city buried under the ashes of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and resurrected thanks to an expert excavation and restoration project, represents perhaps the most important archaeological site in the whole world.


Pompei - the visit, which lasts approximately two hours, commences at the entrance of the Villa dei Misteri. Participants visit the Basilica, the courtrooms which is the largest of the buildings, the Foro, the Comitum hall, the Eumachia - home to the guild of the towns numerous weavers and laundry workers, the small temple built in honour of the Emperor Vespasiano, the Lararium and the Macellum, the bakery of Terenzio Proculo, the house of the Vetti family, the baths of the Foro and the gymnasium. Return to Naples.

Vesuvius - the volcano, one of the most famous in the world, is in a dormant phase, emitting the occasional puff of smoke from the belly of the crater left after the last eruption of 1944. The last section up to the geezers is reached by foot accompanied by mountain guides. Return to hotel.
